Acclaimed Author and Foreign Policy Expert Dr. Chalmers Johnson to Speak June 2nd as Special Guest of the Fallbrook Democratic Club

Dr. Chalmers Johnson, distinguished scholar, best-selling author and expert on US foreign policy, will address a special event June 2nd hosted as a community service by the Fallbrook Democratic Club. It will be followed by a question and answer session and book signing of his just released best-seller Nemesis: The Last Days of the American Republic, in which he argues that US military and economic overreach may actually lead to the nation's collapse as a constitutional republic. It is his third in a provocative trilogy that includes Blowback: The Costs and Consequences of American Empire (winner of the 2001 American Book Award of the Before Columbus Foundation) and The Sorrows of Empire: Militarism, Secrecy, and the End of the Republic .

Chalmers Johnson, a former naval officer, is a retired professor of International Relations and current Professor Emeritus at the University of California at San Diego. Widely regarded as one of the premier scholars in the field of Asian Studies, he is founder and president of the Japan Policy Research Institute and author of more than seventeen books. He has written for many publications including the Los Angeles Times, Harper's Magazine and The Nation. He has been awarded fellowships from the Ford Foundation and the Guggenheim Foundation, and is an elected Fellow the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
