FDC Awards 2 Scholarships to Graduating Fallbrook High Students 

The Fallbrook Democratic Club is very proud to announce the scholarship winners from Fallbrook High School.  The First Place $500 Scholarship was awarded to Alan Albino, who will continue his education at California State University, San Marcos to pursue studies to prepare him for a career in medicine.  Alan will be the first in his family to attend college.  He has over a 4.0 GPA and ranks number 17 in his class of 656 students.  During his high school career, he's donated many hours in community service as a Fallbrook Hospital Volunteer, Health Fair Nutrition Aid, and tutor.  He also participated in the AVID Program at FHS.  Alan has also been very busy with other extra-curricular activities:  Soccer, Football, California Scholarship Federation, National Society of High School Scholars, Merngue, Salsa and More Dance Club, Club Futuro, boxing, and a member of the FHS Homecoming Court.  He was a member of AVID Council,  Student Senate, and Every 15 Minutes, Link Crew Leader, Breaking Down the Walls leader, and a recipient of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award.  He was awarded the ASB Warrior Head for exemplary grades, while also involved in extracurricular activities, AP scholar and for exemplary commitment and service as SIA tutor.  Alan wants to pursue a career in the medical field to motivate, inspire and to give back to others to make a difference in the world.

The Second Place $200 Scholarship was awarded to Cecily Nicole Paldino, who will continue her education at Iowa State University,  majoring in Journalism with a minor in Art and Photography.  Cecily has volunteered at the Bonsall Farmers’ Market and the FAST Snack Bar.  In addition to earning superior academic grades, she is also a Fallbrook High School Athlete, earning varsity letters in both Water Polo and Swimming.  She also participated in FAST Club Swim and Water Polo, California Scholarship Federation, and as a Link Crew Leader.  Being hearing impaired has never interfered with Cecily’s drive for success in everything she does.  Her Art Teacher commends her for “exhibiting intelligence, integrity, dedication and creativity.”  Cecily received a local newspaper’s 2010/2011 Scholar Athlete Award and has been employed by FUHSD as a summer lifeguard and swim instructor.

We are privileged to honor Alan and Cecily with our scholarships. They received their awards at the Fallbrook High School Senior Awards Evening.  They have set an example for other young people to follow
